The First Ten Days of Dhul-Hijjah: Virtues and Rules

“And We have certainly honored the children of Adam and carried them on the land and sea and provided for them of the good things and preferred them over much of what We have created, with [definite] preference.” [Al-Esraa 15:70]. Allah has made some creatures better than others as He gave the human kind the superiority over other creatures. Just as there is superiority for certain creatures over others, there are also super months, days, and nights. Like Holy Ramadan, the first ten days of Dul-Hijjah and Laylat Al-Qadr and others . Throughout these words we will have a side of talk about these first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah. Let’s start with the virtues of these 10 days from the speech of Allah and the prophet.

Firstly in The Quran:

Allah says in the Quran “That they may witness things that are of benefit to them and mention the name of Allah on appointed days” [Al-Hajj 17-28]. Ibn Abbas may Allah be pleased with him said “the appointed days are the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah” [ ibn Katheer 3:239]. In  another surah Allah says “by the dawn, by the ten nights”[ Al-Fajr 30:1,2]  Ibn Abbas, Ibn al-Zubayr, and many earlier and later generations said that this  refers to the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah.

Secondly from the Sunnah:

The prophet peace be upon him said; “There are no days greater in the sight of Allah and in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Him than these ten days. So during this time recite a great deal of Tahleel{la illah ill-Allah} Takbeer and Tahmeed” [ Ahmed ibn Hanbl 7:224]

And in another Hadeeth the prophet peace be upon him said;  “there is no deed more precious in the sight of Allah nor greater in reward than a good deeds done during the ten days of  sacrifice.  He was asked; “ not even Jihaad  for the sake of Allah”? He said ; not even Jihad for the sake of Allah, except in the case of a man who went out to fight giving himself and his wealth up for the cause , and come back with nothing” [ repoted br Ad-Darimi, 1:375 and its isnaad is Hassan].
